Boat on a river

What the DWQR Does

  • The role of the DWQR is to make sure that Scotland’s water is safe to drink by
  • Making sure drinking water standards are met
  • Making sure any drinking water problems are put right
  • Looking into drinking water complaints when Scottish Water can no longer help

How the DWQR does this

The DWQR monitor and regulate Scottish Water to make sure we all have safe water to drink.

We do this by inspecting treatment works and laboratories that Scottish Water use, and watching how Scottish Water work on water mains. We make sure that everything they do is done in a way that keeps the water clean.
